Description/Job Summary

SUMMARY

As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining strong relationships with our suppliers while ensuring that their products meet our quality standard. This role is responsible for supporting the workload at the lab and assist the lab technicians to measure the quality of parts and components produced by third party suppliers for our Roselle tools and equipment manufacturing operations. You will play a key role in driving continuous improvement and preventing defects in the supply chain. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and effective communication with both internal teams and external suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

Supplier Evaluation and Selection:

  • Assess potential suppliers for their ability to meet quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to select suppliers based on quality performance.

Quality Assurance Planning:

  • Develop and implement supplier quality assurance plans.
  • Define quality metrics and establish inspection criteria for incoming materials.

Supplier Audits:

  • Conduct regular audits of suppliers to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Identify and address areas of improvement in supplier processes.

Supplier Development:

  • Collaborate with suppliers to improve their processes and quality systems.
  • Provide guidance and support to suppliers in implementing corrective and preventive actions.

Non-Conformance Management:

  • Investigate and resolve non-conformance issues related to supplier products.
  • Work with suppliers to implement corrective and preventive actions.

Quality Metrics and Reporting:

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for supplier quality.
  • Generate regular reports on supplier performance and recommend improvements.

Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:

  • Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams to address quality issues.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to drive overall product quality improvements.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure that suppliers comply with relevant industry regulations and standards.
  • Stay informed about changes in quality standards and communicate them to suppliers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in [engineering or related field].
  • 4+ years of experience in supplier quality engineering.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations; automotive PPAP
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Certification in quality management (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Engineer) is a plus
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and metrology
