Major Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate ability to function as part of a Radiology Department Aide pool serving all Imaging modalities in Advocate Christ Medical Center/Children’s Hospital and Outpatient Pavilion.
  • Support the technologists, nursing staff and physicians in the activities related to the delivery of patient care.
  • Performs clerical duties in the technical work areas of the department.
  • Utilizes a multitude of Information/communication systems in order to obtain information and/or communicate information.
  • Contribute to a harmonious work environment and Service Excellence Standards.
  • Perform patient interviews to obtain and document patient demographic and medical coverage information.
  • Management of Department supplies in a cost-effective manner.
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness of Department environment.

Education/Experience Required:

  • • Completion of a medical terminology class or attendance within six months • High School graduate or equivalent. • 6 months – 1 year experience • Strong communication skills • Strong customer service skills • Good organization skills

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • • Basic phone skills • Computer skills
  • • CPR certification within 6 months

Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • This position will need to recognize the needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated, i.e., understand child growth and development, normal patterns of adolescent behavior and look for signs of normal aging: prior experience with various age groups is preferred. • The ability to work in a fast paced environment with established time constraints • The ability to handle multiple tasks and complete work within a short time frame • The ability to perform medium lifting up to 20-50 lbs. occasionally and/or 10-25 lbs. frequently and/or 10 lbs. consistently • The ability to perform lifting/transferring activities related to patients • That you may be exposed to hazardous chemicals, various contagious diseases, radiation, electrical equipment, and hazards associate with their use • The ability to work closely with others • The candidate must be highly customer service oriented • The ability to work holidays, weekends and different shifts to accommodate staffing needs • By virtue of it’s nature, the job is a highly stressful one
  • If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
