Job Summary

The Intern, Bridge Assessment Engineer is responsible for providing support to Bridge Assessment Engineers. The role is accountable for compiling and performing railway timber bridge ratings. Additionally, the incumbent assists Bridge Assessment Engineers in performing railway steel and concrete bridge ratings.

Major Responsibilities
  • Assist with compiling timber span configurations in spreadsheets for 4 subdivisions in the Southern Region
  • Assist with conducting stringer and bent ratings of timber spans for 4 subdivisions as main deliverable
  • Suggest and review possible development of tools to facilitate assessment information management
Requirements
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office: Excel, Access, and SharePoint
  • Knowledge of basic programming*
Education
  • Civil Engineering foundation courses such as Statics, Structural Analysis, Structural Material, and Engineering Drafting
  • Working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (minimum 3 years completed) with a Major in Structures

*Any experience/education/skills/knowledge for these above would be considered as an asset
