Wunderlich-Malec Engineering has a Controls Engineer Internship position available at our Eden Prairie, MN location. Wunderlich-Malec Engineering is a 100% employee-owned company and one of the largest and most well-established (35+ years) engineering companies in the United States. This internship geared towards candidates interested in controls engineering and projects involving PLC/DCS/HMI validation, check-out support, and start-up assistance.

Major Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute protocols to ensure DCS and PLC control strategies meet functional and design requirements.
  • Troubleshoot control strategies and user interface applications.
  • Assist with and debug integrated systems and the development of system documentation.
  • Work on automation and control system integration projects for clients in industries such as life-science and specialty chemicals
  • General administration such as paperwork, copying, printing, faxing, and using a computer

Minimum Requirements

Education

Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering student preferred.

Experience

  • An understanding of control systems, components, IEC 61131 programming, DCS/SCADA programming and their applications (i.e. Emerson DeltaV or Rockwell Factory Talk). An interest in the field of instrumentation and controls design PLC's (i.e. Rockwell Automation, GE, Modicon, or Siemens) and/or DCS/SCADA systems. Experience with AutoCAD is also desired.
  • Familiarity with PLC/System Integration

Physical Demands of Position

Seeing, color perception, hearing and clear speech, dexterity in hands, driving, lifting, climbing, and ability to mount and dismount equipment, pushing, and pulling.

Working Environment

Standard office environment, On-site office environment, and diverse industrial environments

Frequent PC usage, fax machines, copy machines, phones.
