TRC is seeking an Industrial Hygiene Air Monitoring Technician to join our Chicago, IL office. This position would be working within our Building Sciences and Industrial Hygiene business within our Environmental Sector. The ideal candidate must have One or more of the following licenses IL Licensed Asbestos Inspector, Asbestos Project Monitor, Lead Inspector, Indoor Air Quality Training. Job Responsibilities:

• Perform hazardous building material inspections for asbestos, lead-based paint, PCBs.
• Perform indoor air quality inspections, water intrusion investigation and mold assessments.
• Perform project oversight and coordination with contractors.
• Operate and maintain instruments including sampling pumps, calibrators and microscopes.
• Collect samples as required by various regulatory agencies, complete data sheets, chain of custody forms, and prepare samples for shipment to laboratory.
• Maintain daily logs of activities related to project work.
• Interact and communicate with clients, contractors and regulatory agency representatives.
• Read project specifications and drawings.
• Prepare reports.
• Travel throughout Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio is expected.

Basic Qualifications:

• 0 - 5 years of experience in the hazardous building materials, indoor air quality, industrial hygiene industry is required.
• Bachelor-s Degree in Environmental Sciences, Occupational Health and Safety or other relevant majors required.
• Must be able to read project specifications and drawings.
• Prior experience in various aspects of abatement projects is a plus.
• One or more of the following licenses are required:
  • IL Licensed Asbestos Inspector
  • Asbestos Project Monitor
  • Lead Inspector
  • Indoor Air Quality Training
• HAZWOPER 40, OSHA 10 licenses are preferred.
• Valid driver-s license and reliable transportation.
• Strong verbal communication skills.
• Adaptability and flexibility to various work schedules and situations related to emergency response scenarios.
• Intuitive and creative thinker. Understanding of their surroundings and reason the services are being provided. A consultative demeanor and ability to work with customers / clients and offers solutions when needed.
• Work as a team player.
• Ability to carry and climb ladders and being able to use hand and power tools.
• Be able to wear a respirator, safety harness and other safety equipment as needed
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, physical and motor vehicle records check

Compensation:

In accordance with local law, the following compensation range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition: $40K-70K. Compensation will vary based on experience,education,skill level, and other compensation factors.
