Job Description
Position Overview:
Molex is seeking a proactive Senior Project Engineer to design and develop high speed connectors, cables and interconnect products for datacom and telecom applications. In this role you will work with marketing and external customers to define new project opportunities.

Essential Functions:
  • Develop new interconnect products, including high speed connectors, connector cable assemblies, and miscellaneous related mechanical hardware. Support application and interface of Molex products to customer systems.
  • Verify product design. Perform engineering tests and submit product for screen and qualification testing in the reliability lab.
  • Provide technical support to consolidate inputs from Marketing, customers, and external consultants into product concepts and detailed requirements.
  • Present concepts and detailed requirements internally and to customers to obtain support for development of major new products.
  • Lead new product development, debug and release. Follow all product development steps, supplies tooling groups models and drawings for quoting and tool build. Assist and support manufacturing in the debug process. Work with component suppliers to ensure product function, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Responsible for follow-up, documentation, publishing and expediting all action items of a new product program.
  • Prepare and complete engineering change requests (ECRs) per document control procedures.
  • Interface with internal departments (manufacturing, quality, reliability lab, and marketing), and external suppliers to ensure design objectives are met in a timely manner and assists by providing product information, engineering samples and technical advice.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (ME, EE, etc.)
  • 4+ years design and product development experience
  • Knowledge of drafting standards and design layout
  • Design experience for products manufactured with the following processes: progressive die stamping, molding, electroplating, insert molding and automated assembly.
  • CAD skills (2D and 3D)

  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Able to perform tolerance analysis.
  • Knowledge of finite element modeling (mechanical and thermal simulations).
  • Design experience with high speed, high density connectors, cable assemblies, and interconnect products.
  • Knowledge of regulatory agency testing requirements (e.g., UL/CSA, NEBS, EMC/EMI requirements).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to express complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.


Some travel, as necessary, may be required.
