Tax Manager

This position works in partnership with outside professional firms in managing both day to day and period oversight of all governmental taxes, insurance matters and daily banking activities. This role requires the highest level of of integrity and confidentiality ensuring the Company is in compliance with its legal obligations with regard to specified tax & insurance documents. Position manages one full-time and one part-time associate.


  • Oversee and execute the Company's quarterly Federal and State Income/Franchise tax returns, audit process, and estimated tax payments.

  • Oversee daily banking activities and tax compliance for multiple taxing states and jurisdictions.

  • Responsible for maintaining current knowledge base for laws pertaining to Federal and State taxes to appropriately perform job functions.

  • Responsible for assisting outside tax advisors with preparation of year-end tax reporting, 1099's, and preparing W2 adjustments.

  • Complete and submit other permits and licenses (i.e. Casino applications) and renewals for State, City, and Tribal Casino Licensing in a timely manner.

  • Manage litigation for claims covered by insurance and with direction from senior management, negotiates resolution of claims not covered by insurance.

  • Summarize company requirements under Bank Agreements, Leases, and State and Local Tax Incentive Agreements.

  • Coordinate the application for and response to infringement of Company trademarks.

  • Oversee compliance with local and state licensing agencies.

  • Responsible for the overall management of specified Company Business insurance policies including renewals, certificate maintenance, file storage, etc. (this includes Workers Compensation, Fleet Auto, Liability and other misc policies).

  • Execute dividend payment and reporting.

  • Serve as custodian of company records.

  • Manage, train and develop direct reports to enhance their career development.

External Qualifications

Required: Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting, Risk Management & Insurance or related field and a minimum of seven years experience in of applicable experience with Multi-State and Federal taxes, Multi-State business insurance, contract administration, and pass through tax structures.
Advanced proficiency in Excel, Access & Word. Excellent communication, organization and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize, work within assigned deadlines, and work independently or collaboratively to accomplish organizational objectives.
Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and ethical standards in all Company dealings on a daily basis and ability to foster strong, open lines of communication across all levels of the organization. Expertise and understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), Internal Revenue Code with emphasis on pass through organizations and insurance concepts.

Preferred: Supervisory experience, CPA certification and tax experience working in a Private Equity owned, pass through organization. Familiarity with tax planning and experience in tax compliance and regulatory reporting. Previous experience in working with outside attorney's and tax advisors in collaborative setting.
