Job Description

TITLE OF POSITION: Technician III-R & D

LOCATION: Reading, PA

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Set up, operate, and maintain various pieces of equipment and make repairs as needed
  • Perform approved projects by completing various analyses, collecting, and evaluating data and communicating results within the assigned area
  • Suggest modifications of procedures to improve the productivity of preparation and analysis methods or techniques
  • Maintain complete and accurate records, data books, and other documentation
  • Prepare test reports, other written reports, and required documentation with oversight
  • Work within the framework of outlined methods in the most efficient manner so that accurate and precise results will be consistently obtained
  • Assist or lead the training of designated individuals in the skills needed to operate equipment and perform various tasks
  • Coach, mentor, and answer technical questions from less experienced technicians-may lead small sub-teams within area
  • Follow and promote the use of safe working practices
  • Perform approved projects related to assigned area with minimal supervision
  • Perform assigned tasks in a timely, accurate and cost-effective manner

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma with a two-year Associate degree in a technology related field, or demonstrated equivalent experience as determined by department management
  • Five + years' related experience or equivalent as determined by department management
  • Working knowledge of scientific principles, standards, methods, and practices

PREFERRED:

  • Working knowledge of metallurgical/laboratory equipment
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decision
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills-verbal, written, and listening
