General Summary: The Painter Grade 2 will apply a working knowledge of cleaning and preparing surfaces for specific coatings and applies common coatings. Should be capable of solving various problems, but is not expected to perform troubleshooting functions completely independent of technical assistance. Most duties are of a maintenance and repair nature, but may include construction. The Painter Grade 2 exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Cleans and prepares most surfaces by removing earlier coatings to the extent possible. Patches or fills holes in surface as necessary. Applies prescribed coatings, primers, and sealers as instructed. Washes walls, ceiling, etc. Rigs, stages, and erects scaffolding and spread clothes or canvas to protect furniture.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The Painter Grade 2 must meet or exceed the requirements as described
Knowledge: Basic Elementary School
High School diploma or GED
Must have two (2) or more years experience working in a job within this trade or completion of at least two (2) years of an apprenticeship program or completion of a trade or vocational school program.
Skills: Able to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, service manuals, and instructions as necessary to complete all work assignments.
Abilities: Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in performance of a job assignment as well possesses the physical strength and dexterity to effectively perform work assignments.
Tools: Owns a complete set of hand tools necessary for the trade.
