We are seeking a recognized scientific leader to join our Computer-Aided Drug Design (CADD) team to advance the discovery of new therapeutic candidates using targeted protein degradation (TPD). The Principal Scientist CADD position is based in our Boston R&D Hub in Cambridge, MA, and is expected to collaborate effectively with our other research sites in the US, the UK, and Belgium.

You will contribute by:

* Independently designing and executing computational experiments in a timely manner to enable the progression of TPD therapeutic projects.
* Proactively thinking of ways to enhance delivery to the TPD projects. Able to foresee resource requirements and bottlenecks and propose solutions.
* Creating effective working relationships within the TPD team and beyond via influencing and networking.
* Championing continuous optimization of drug discovery processes. Effectively solicits input and feedback and drives innovation.
* Contributing to CADD technology acquisition, development, implementation and applications to pipeline projects through effective project management and cross-functional collaboration.
* Acting as an ambassador for CADD by providing scientific expertise / leadership at cross-disciplinary meetings and departmental meetings.
* Understanding UCB R&D strategy and contributes to its implementation. Acts as advisor and driver of change with senior management.
* Demonstrating strategic thinking for project delivery, identification and implementation of the next disruptive technology within UCB in order to stay at the forefront of drug discovery.

Interested? For this position, you'll need the following education, experience and skills:

Minimum Qualifications:

* 10+ years of drug discovery experience, including therapeutic project leadership roles.
* PhD in Chemistry, Computational Chemistry, Molecular Modeling or a related field is required with a good publication/patent track record.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Expert knowledge in structure-based and ligand-based small molecule drug design.
* Good knowledge in medicinal chemistry.
* Ability to influence and impact beyond immediate area of responsibility.
* Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
* Experience in targeted protein degradation is desired but not required.
