Stanley Consultants is seeking a Senior Water Engineer / Project Manager for our Chicago office to lead and deliver water projects in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin. This position is responsible for technical planning, design, construction, and project management of drinking water source, distribution, storage, and water treatment projects.

The Senior Water Engineer / Project Manager will have a Midwestern US network of drinking water connections and regional expertise in one or more of the following:

  • Water supply, facility master planning, and treatment processes and technologies
  • Water storage, transmission, and distribution
  • Pump Stations
  • Smart Water Networks

Essential duties include:

  • Leading team delivery of drinking water projects including evaluation and detailed design of intake structures, surface and ground water treatment plants, water reuse systems, storage, pumping, and transmission and distribution projects.
  • Preparing master planning reports and documentation required for grants and loans.
  • Self-motivated subject matter expert; demonstrated through participating in local professional organizations, preparing, and presenting market specific papers and presentations.
  • Ability to articulate and operate within the One Water paradigm.
  • Integration of smart water systems, process automation, and machine learning into overall water production and distribution design.
  • Use AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation and other applicable engineering design tools.
  • Work in collaboration with other disciplines (civil, mechanical, electrical, I&C, structural, and CAD) in producing plans and specifications.
  • Assisting in marketing business opportunities with key clients and development of responses to RFP/RFQs.
  • Providing marketing, technical leadership, and support during the procurement and execution of projects.
  • Developing and maintaining long-term relationships with clients.
  • Assisting clients with permitting, property acquisition, and stakeholder involvement.
  • Successfully collaborate with multi-disciplinary design teams.
  • Consistently managing and delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Desire and ability to manage and mentor staff.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in either Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Engineering is required; a Masters of Science (MS) or PhD degree in any of the above is preferred, but not required
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required; Illinois PE preferred or must be able to obtain within 6 months of hire date.
  • Must possess either an Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and/or Wisconsin network of water/wastewater connections
  • Regional expertise in one or more areas of water supply, treatment, storage, and/or distribution technical expertise
  • Active participation in professional organizations.
  • Possess strong verbal, computer, and organizational skills,
  • Must have excellent technical writing skills
  • Possess strong client relationship skills
  • Must have excellent design team leadership skills
