Description

Under the direction of the MEP Manager:

Identify, diagnose and resolve the root causes of electrical, mechanical and performance issues on HVAC equipment and related control systems serving critical environments.

Develop sequences of operation for mechanical equipment to address energy management and sustainability without running afoul of regulatory requirements.

Provide support and training to end users who interface with the building automation system.

Research and formalize the most cost effective process for sensor calibration and part replacements. Maintain all temperature, RH and pressure sensors in calibration and documented as such.

Maintain regulatory documentation for inspection agencies in reference to temperature, humidity, and pressurization trends for critical areas, including documentation of root-cause determination and resolution.

Communicate out-of-range temperature/RH/pressurization/air change conditions to stakeholders in a timely and concise manner.

Respond to patient comfort calls using CICARE to guide behavior towards a positive interaction.

Salary range: $57.33/Hourly

Qualifications

  • 10 or more years of work experience in the field of commercial/institutional HVAC and building automation.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematic drawings and construction documents.
  • Working knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to stand, crawl, walk, and stoop in ceiling areas, and push, pull, and lift or lower objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • California Driver's License Class C and the ability to drive a truck or other light vehicle.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills needed for coordination between management, staff, and vendors in the execution of duties.
  • Solid understanding of basic psychrometric principles and their real-life applications in critical environments.
  • Solid understanding of the interrelationship of air exchange rates, room envelope integrity and space pressurization.
  • Have successfully passed the Service Engineer exam or be willing and able to successfully pass the Service Engineer exam within 30 days of hire. The Service engineer exam requirements indicate applicants must be a regular career University employee who have held the title of Lead or Stationary Operating Engineer (title codes 8235 or 8239) for a minimum of six months preceding the date of the examination.

Preferred

  • Siemens Apogee Insight, Siemens Desigo Insight, and Johnson Controls Metasys.
  • Experience working in a hospital environment.
