Responsibilities

Brentwood Hospital is searching for a caring and compassionate master's prepared mental health clinician or Licensed RN for the Admission Clinician position, in our busy 24/7 Admissions Department. The Admissions Clinician provides in-person level of care determinations and crisis intervention, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, determines appropriate level of care, facilitates the admission process and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff.

Ability to prioritize; work well under periods of high stress and pressure. Ability to multi-task and demonstrate critical thinking skills. Demonstrates an understanding of funding entities. Thorough knowledge of psychiatric services provided by the hospital.

Qualifications

Excellent communication skills, i.e., verbal and written. Ability to prioritize; work well under periods of high stress and pressure. Ability to multi-task and demonstrate critical thinking skills. Demonstrates an understanding of funding entities. Thorough knowledge of psychiatric services provided by the hospital. Ability to work flexible hours when needed. Requires a basic understanding of computers; and accurate data entry skills. Knowledge of insurance contracts and payers. Knowledge of precertification for inpatient hospitalization. Experience gathering and documenting medical and clinical information. Ability to triage for medical and psychiatric needs. Working knowledge of DSM-V diagnostic criteria, mental status exam, and addiction and recovery field. Excellent customer service skills as evidenced by supportive and constructive communication with all contacts including coworkers, patients, visitors, families and referral sources. Skill set to prioritize, assign tasks, and hold staff accountable for their completion.

Education: Master's Degree in Human Service field (e.g. Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, etc.), or RN - preferably BSN.

Experience: 1-2years of experience preferred in psychiatric health care. Working knowledge of DSM-V diagnostic criteria, mental status exam, and addiction and recovery field. Supervisor experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Licensed RN, LCSW, LPC preferred.

Schedule: Evenings and weekends needed PRN
