Fermilab is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Senior Director of Security and Emergency Management to join our team at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. As the Senior Director, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the Laboratory, its employees, and its assets including overseeing our organization's cybersecurity program and ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our information assets.

You will:

  • Develop and implement security policies and procedures to protect the Laboratory and its assets, including classified information, data, and intellectual property in alignment with regulations for federal property.
  • Direct and manage all aspects of the security program, including site access security, information and cyber security, personnel security, and emergency management.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with government agencies and law enforcement organizations.
  • Develop and implement cybersecurity strategies and policies, assess and mitigate cybersecurity risks, and manage incident response and recovery efforts.
  • Conduct site security and cybersecurity assessments, audits, and investigations to identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement site access and cybersecurity awareness and training programs for all employees and contractors.
  • Manage security operations, including site security team, cybersecurity professionals, contractors, and equipment.
  • Develop and manage the security budget and ensure compliance with all applicable laws, standards, and regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on security matters.
  • Stay up to date on emerging cybersecurity threats and trends.
  • Educate the organization on cybersecurity best practices.
  • Serve as a member of the Laboratory's senior management team, providing advice and counsel on security matters.

We are looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in security management, business administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in security management, preferably in a high-security environment, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of site security and cybersecurity principles, practices, technologies, risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Experience managing a security program that includes physical, cyber, and personnel security.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement security policies and procedures.
  • Experience working with government agencies and law enforcement organizations.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, collaboration and leadership skills.
  • Experience managing incident response and recovery efforts
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the highest level.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CRISC

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR 707.4, will be conducted and a background investigation by the Federal government may be required to obtain an access authorization prior to employment; subsequent reinvestigations may be required. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination. Failure to obtain or maintain such government access authorization could result in the withdrawal of a job offer or future termination of employment.
  • Applicant must be a U.S. citizen to obtain and maintain a Q clearance.
