Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking an experienced Specialist Supplier Quality Engineer to join our company. This position is a hybrid role that can be performed from Illinois.
The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that delivered products and/or services conform to contractual and the Company's requirements by designing, implementing, evaluating and continually improving quality assurance and control methods and systems. The Supplier Quality Engineer will translate design drawings and contractual requirements into a comprehensive, understandable and functional quality plan; monitor and closely support manufacturing, inspection and supplier functions that relate to product quality; coordinate with the customer the establishment of government quality requirements and material review board activities; represent quality assurance in corrective action activities; and participate in audits or product evaluation to determine the effectiveness of the quality assurance program. This position is responsible for the day to day inspection of electrical assemblies at assigned suppliers. This role will support suppliers in Loves Park, Illinois.

50% - Visit suppliers and perform product acceptance of electrical, mechanical, and complex machined assemblies. Interface with internal and external customers; i.e., engineering, manufacturing, supplier, procurement to ensure requirements are met. Analyze supplier processes and planning to verify compliance with purchase orders, engineering drawings, processes, specifications, etc. Work with suppliers to resolve issues with purchase order inspection packages. Investigate and report supplier quality history as requested by quality engineering or Quality & Mission Assurance (Q&MA) management.
25% - Visit suppliers and perform investigation and root cause analysis to drive improvements into their processes. Be accountable for assigned suppliers' performance and ensure suppliers are performing with a 100% quality rating.
15% - Visit suppliers to review technical, quality and other contractual requirements and ensure the supplier has an adequate understanding to develop a plan to meet all the requirements. Review the suppliers' plans for adequacy and ensure all requirements are met. This includes, pre-award, post award, manufacturing readiness and other periodic reviews as requested.
10% - Work closely with Planners, Program Quality Engineers, and Receiving Inspection to resolve supplier issues.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, quality or other appropriate discipline and nine (9) years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Successful passing of initial and annual visual acuity exams required.
