The CAD/PLM Administrator enables engineering capability and efficiency through continuous analysis and improvement of the CAD/PLM systems across all Generac engineering sites on a worldwide basis. Key focus will be on CAD/PLM supporting velocity and efficiency in engineering design and analysis, the delivery of new products, and sustainment of existing products. The position evaluates opportunities relating to CAD/PLM and process effectiveness towards the development of plans for current and future system needs, future software applications upgrades and for advising leadership of computer training needs. This position is responsible for providing training and support with respect to various current CAD/PLM systems.

This position reports to the Director Global Engineering Systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


30%
  • Develop practices and processes aligned to enhancing the performance and efficiencies of the Engineering System tools.
  • Analyze engineering system information requirements and product specifications to understand technical content strategy and plan to create and deliver written and/or visual product-related information including various types of guides (automated templates and best practices), and online information (interactive demos, help systems) integrated into product, for a variety of audiences (general engineering users, systems administrators, and engineering training developers).
  • Responsible for implementing and supporting the internal tools and systems environment that supports a forward-thinking product development group using PDM/PLM and other software tools for CAD data and engineering documentation management.

25%
  • Supports CAD/PLM system user issues for all Generac Design teams including occasional off-hours support of our international teams.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to implement customized CAD/PLM workflows to support engineering data management solutions and process improvements.
  • Prepares requirements and provide technical expertise in evaluating, integrating and deploying CAD/PLM system solutions.
  • Implements system upgrades and coordinates training programs and responsible for the development of technical documentation relative to new engineering systems and tools.
  • Logically and efficiently analyze, test and diagnose CAD systems to isolate problems and report if necessary.
  • Work as part of a team to share skill sets, lessons and technical knowledge to maintain a well-rounded technical support team.

  • Contribute to technical support documentation.
  • Adhere to and help improve support related procedures.
  • Strive to become an expert in the tools used by our Engineering community.
  • Take ownership of process improvements and drive to successful implementation.
  • Monitor competitive environment and be prepared to respond to changes in the market.
  • Other duties as assigned.

15%
  • Develop best practices, define standards for data management including system and process documentation.
  • Implement system upgrades and coordinate training programs and responsible for the development of technical documentation relative to new engineering systems.

Other duties as assigned and the following:
  • Design and direct the work of project teams (internal and external suppliers).
  • Act as SAP Super User within functional areas as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering processes and terms related to data management.
  • Ability to capture business needs and transform them into business requirements.
  • Proficient with CAD software and use in mechanical and electrical engineering processes such as Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD and IsoDraw.
  • Proficient experience in Windchill Business Administration 11.0+.
  • Proficient in defining, deploying and managing CAE (Ansys) and WRS (QATrax) tools and supporting data networks; works within Windchill.
  • Proficient in technical support, help desk or desktop support in a Windows environment.
  • Proficient with delivering technical training and presentations on a global basis.
  • Proficient with software and computing environments including but not limited to: Windows workstation operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite of Products and PC hardware.
  • Ability to influence others without direct authority and work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing shifting deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Minimal Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science OR Associate's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Information Systems with 5 years' experience in similar role.
  • 5 years of experience with CAD/PLM tools.
  • 5 years of experience with engineering processes and terms related to design creation and management.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with CAD/PLM Administration (PTC Windchill, Creo and SolidWorks).
  • Experience with capturing Business Requirements related to CAD/PLM.
  • Experience with global product releases throughout the entire product life cycle desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results while working on multiple global projects simultaneously, balancing resources, timing and quality of outcomes.
  • Experience delivering technical training and presentations.
  • Experience working with and influencing cross-functional teams.
Physical demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
