Job Description

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Registered Nurse for Bariatric Surgery Team with Medical Group General Surgery Office
  • Sign-On Bonus: $5,000
  • Location: Homebase: Glenbrook and Highland Park Hospitals
  • Full Time/Part Time: Full Time (40 hours per week)
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30AM-5:00PM; Opportunity for some remote days after introductory period is completed.
  • Required Travel: Travel to other NorthShore sites besides GB and HP, as needed

What you will need:

  • License: Current professional Nursing Licensure in the State of IL required
  • Education: Graduate of a NLN accredited school of nursing required; BSN strongly preferred
  • Certification: BLS/CPR certification for the Healthcare Provider required
  • Experience: 1 year of nursing experience in an office or hospital setting preferred

What you will do:

  • Supports the Bariatric Surgeons and the Medical Weight Management Program.
  • The bariatric nurse educates and helps the patient navigate through the required pre-op requirements, surgery, and post op care. Triages post op concerns and provides education on healthy life style changes after surgery including nutrition, exercise, and vitamin supplementation
  • Assists patients with insurance concerns and surgery/medication authorizations.
  • Great team atmosphere between surgeons, nurse practitioners, nurses, and admin staff which includes coming together for Bariatric Team Meetings and Obesity Conferences.
  • Provide nursing care services under the direction of the office Practice Manager and Physicians
  • In addition to admin/triage tasks, provide direct patient care in clinic with surgeons
  • Assist with virtual support group a few times a year.
  • Chart in Epic, our electronic medical record
