IRB Coordinator

Position Highlights:

  • Position: IRB Coordinator
  • Location: Evanston, IL
  • Full Time/Part Time: Full Time
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, Onsite (no hybrid option available)

Job Summary:

The lRB Coordinator is responsible for oversight of all activities relating to human subjects in research. The Administrator primarily oversees all human subject's submission (full board, expedited, exempt and emergency use.) throughout the life of each study. Oversees monthly IRB meetings and sub-committee meetings, agenda posting, and draws up the minutes of meetings. Reviews submissions for appropriateness and levels of involvement of human subjects. Responsible for clarification and follow-up of unresolved issues; assigns projects to IRB reviewers, followed by letters of approval or requests for further clarification, new consents forms. They are responsible for database entries, and agenda posting. Interacts extensively with IRB staff and Research Coordinators providing instruction/training on proper IRB submission to ensure that reports fulfill all legal requirements, as well as those for quality and accuracy of information, and that all reports have proper supporting documentation.

What you will do:

  • Review and Process IRB submissions per internal policies and procedures.
  • Monitor database for all IRB related research projects, particularly with regard to annual reports.
  • Provide backup support for IRB meetings and preparation of materials to be reviewed.
  • Represent IRB in a professional manner to other hospital departments

What you will need:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Certification: Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and databases. Familiar with scientific proposals, applications and general office administration.
  • Experience: Five years
  • Unique or Preferred Skills:
    • Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing participation of human subjects in research.
    • Working knowledge of scientific and medical concepts and terminology.
    • Clinical background preferred.
    • Interpersonal communication skills.
