Duties and Responsibilities
Summary
The Department of Health Informatics and Data Science and the Center for Health Outcomes and Informatics Research (CHOIR) at Loyola University Chicago invites applications for two immediate postdoctoral research positions opening in medical informatics for a one-year tenure. We are encouraging applicants with strong research background in data science, machine learning, or natural language processing with a focus on biomedical applications.

Expectations
The selected candidate will work with Dr. Tootooni to conceptualize research studies, design methods and modeling, perform data analysis, attend/present at international conferences, and draft manuscripts (papers and proposals). This is an excellent opportunity for junior scientists to engage in hands-on programming, applying artificial intelligence to healthcare practice, and to thrive in multi-institutional collaborative projects with esteemed scholars. Dr. Tootooni's lab comprises a diverse group of twelve members, including students, analysts, biostatisticians, and research assistants. This multicultural team represents various educational levels from undergraduate students to postdoctoral researchers, promoting a dynamic and inclusive learning environment. This is a one-year postdoctoral research position, extendable annually based on budget availability and performance. Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
M.D. or PhD Required
Qualifications
Preferred candidates have experience working with Electronic Health Records (EHR) data and health ontologies such as ICD and UMLS.
Certificates/Credentials/Licenses
Qualifications
Candidates must possess a doctorate degree in Medical Informatics, Computer Science, Engineering (industrial, electrical, biomedical, etc.), or another related field.

Computer Skills
Advanced knowledge in computer programming (preferably R or Python), machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and applied statistics is required.
