Position: Electro Mechanic

Location: Elk Grove, IL

Wage: $34.17 Hourly- pay could be higher based on experience up to $44.10

Shift: 5:45 PM - 6:15 AM; 12-hour continental shift 3 days one week, 4 days the following, off every other weekend. *overtime may be required *$2.00 hr. shift premium for night shift

While reporting to thePlant Engineer OR Maintenance Supervisor,as theElectro Mechanic, for performingmaintenancetasks, specifically proactive tasks,necessary to provide high quality, efficient, timely shipment of Sonoco products.Safety, quality, productivityandstrongwork ethic are important to the Sonoco culture.

What You'll Be Doing:

      • Understand and follow plant safety rules including LOTO and safe machine operation.

      • Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, specifications and technical data.

      • Ability to work on motors, contractors and relays with a multimeter to verify component functionality.

      • Ability to work on advanced shop equipment such as bandsaws, mills and lathes.

      • Must be able to work on Chillers, Process pumps, compressors, ink pumps and Glue pumps.

      • Analyze and resolve all mechanical, electrical issues related to the equipment.

      • Demonstrate solid knowledge of electrical controls/PLCs including troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems.

      • Responsible for maintaining all manufacturing process equipment by performing preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, routine repairs and calibration with minimal down time.

      • Perform all duties in a safe, professional and efficient manner.

      • Diagnose root cause of problems with production equipment to determine best solution: electrical or mechanical.

      • Document parts used, and repairs completed in the CMMS. Assist in maintaining appropriate stock of spare parts and parts room is organized.Perform necessary repairs, preventative maintenance and predictive maintenance on plant production equipment and facilities equipment.

      • Participate in Sonoco's Performance System (SPS) activities as required - 5Star, Pillar Teams, Audits, Near Misses, etc.

      • Regular, consistent attendance and punctuality are required and expected for job performance.

      • Personal Protective Equipment is to be used where required.

      • Ensure proper and safe operational conditions of all production and related equipment.

      • Other duties as assigned.

      We'd love to hear from you if:

      • You have experience in an industrial environment or military experience troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining manufacturing equipment

      • Industry experience preferred, functioning knowledge of Blown films, sheet extruders, Flexographic printing, lamination, slitting. Ancillary Equipment (associated to flexible packaging).

      • Experience with PLC troubleshooting, industrial and motor controlsa plus

      • Ability to operate a Forklift

      • Comfortable with mechanical lifts, ladders, kneeling, bending and twisting; lifting up to 50 lbs

      • Working independently and managing multiple tasks in an off shift position with rotating shifts that will require overtime including weekends
