is seeking qualified candidates for Facilities Technician at its corporate headquarters in Northbrook, Illinois.

The Facilities Coordinator works together with a team of Facilities staff at our global headquarters campus. This position performs tasks under the direction of the Facilities Area Lead and completes mechanical, plumbing, and electrical tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Works safely under the guidance of the Facilities Area Lead
  • Completes work orders as assigned including repairs and alterations
  • Ensures work orders, cleanup, and communications are completed within specified timelines
  • Leads or assists in mechanical, electrical, fire suppression, and plumbing systems requests
  • Assists facilities team with moves, furniture requests, reconfigurations, and special events
  • Maintains security systems, including doors, cameras, and door access
  • Assists with light-duty repairs and facilities-related needs for laboratory test set-ups

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED required, plus five years of relevant work experience; or relevant degree/certification plus one to three years of relevant work experience required
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and/or mechanical systems, with aptitude for diagnosing and troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controller (PLCs) preferred
  • Ability to use and operate hand tools and power tools safely
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to adapt to quickly changing priorities and situations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to professionally interact with all departments and external contacts (vendors and contractors)
  • Willingness to obtain appropriate certifications and training in primary practice areas (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Programmable Logic Controller (PLCs), etc.)

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires visual acuity and listening ability. Individuals must have the dexterity to be able to operate office and field equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, telephones, voice mail systems, and other office and lab equipment.

  • Ability to safely work at heights
  • Ability to safely use and/or operate ladders, scaffolds, lifts, and other access equipment
  • Ability to understand and appreciate safety training specific to numerous workplace and construction hazards
  • Ability to safely work in a variety of occupationally hazardous locations
  • Medically fit to utilize respiratory protection devices and other forms of Personal Protective Equipment
  • Ability to drive and safely operate a motor vehicle

Annual starting base salary (gross): $51,300 - $73,600. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on several factors including consideration for a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base salary is one component of our total compensation package for employees.
