Title Regional Health & Safety Manager (Romeoville, IL) Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Develop and manage the components of a strong Safety Program for RoadSafe's operations on a regional scale. Support the District Vice President and Branch Managers in communicating with employees to build a strong safety culture. Work with the Branch Managers and the local Safety Coordinators to significantly reduce injuries (both to our workers and others) and property damage. Build and implement comprehensive Health and Safety related plans to reduce injuries and accidents.

Implements and coordinates safety and quality programs to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, and financial losses in support of all RoadSafe's operations and also in accord with customer or government agency requirements. This position shall require both onsite inspections of work being performed and overall assurance of adherence to best safety practices at our branches.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:

  • Recommend processes and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to work hazards.
  • Inspect facilities, machinery, and equipment to identify and correct potential hazards and to insure safety regulation compliance.
  • Inspect and ensure safety measures and quality control of field-based operations.
  • Lead or direct all investigations of work-related accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine causes and preventive measures.
  • Report or review findings from accident investigations, facilities inspections, or environmental testing.
  • Interview managers and employees to obtain information about work environments and workplace incidents.
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of current safety policies, regulations, and operational processes. Assist with updating and teaching from RoadSafe's Environment, Health and Safety Manual.
  • Draft toolbox talks, daily safety briefings, and other safety communications.
  • Conduct or facilitate supervisory and field level training of divisional personnel. Administer and ensure training policy compliance at the divisional level. Conduct safety training and education programs and demonstrate the use of safety equipment.
  • Conduct training to employees in FirstAid, CPR, OSHA 10, and ATSSA Flagger card.
  • Conduct meetings with supervisors and employees to discuss such points as the standards, cited violations, lessons learned, and potential hazards and to resolve disputes regarding occupational safety issues.
  • Provide new-employee health and safety orientations and develop materials for these presentations.
  • This is a high travel volume position. Travel will be up to 90%.
Position Requirements

REQUIREMENTS, EDUCATION, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • A College degree is required
  • OSHA 10 Hour trainer certified is required
  • FirstAid, CPR trainer certification required
  • OSHA 30 Hour trainer certified is a plus
  • Forklift Trainer certified is a plus
  • Knowledge of various ATSSA certifications
  • Must be able to receive, understand, and communicate specific instructions
  • Must have a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record
  • Must be able to successfully pass background check and drug screen
