As we continue to expand our portfolio, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior EMC Compliance Engineer with expertise in EM emissions and immunity test standards and regulations, to ensure our products meet stringent regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Independently lead EMC test planning and execution throughout product compliance lifecycle including pre-compliance, design phases and formal compliance across Generac Clean Energy products.
  • Debug failures and drive design solutions in collaboration with engineering design teams
  • Design filter stages for high power electronics to meet conducted and radiated regulatory emissions requirements.
  • Coordinate schedule & logistics for pre-compliance and formal compliance testing with third party laboratories.
  • Specify lab equipment and maintain consumables for testing
  • Lead establishment of Supervised Manufacturer Test/Client Test Data Acceptance/Satellite Program with NRTL's

Minimal Qualifications:
  • Minimum BS in Electrical/Electronic Engineering. MS or PhD preferred.
  • 4+ years of hands-on EMC testing experience working for a product manufacturer or test laboratory.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Thorough understanding of test standards including FCC 47 CFR Part 15 and IEC 61000 series standards
  • Strong foundation in EM/RF Field theory and applications.
  • Knowledge of power electronic converter design, topologies, and control methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills related to test set up and design debug.
  • Experience working with high power converters.
  • Experience creating and validating EM emissions and immunity test set ups from scratch using equipment such as spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, surge generator, ESD generator etc.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate test results cross functionally.
  • Experience testing and certifying WiFi, Bluetooth, BLE, Thread and LTE.
  • Experience obtaining PTCRB and carrier certifications.
  • Fundamental understanding of implications of EMC/EMI design to broader Product compliance areas including Functional Safety, Grid Interoperability, Charging Interoperability and Metrology
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
