Vice President - Lateral Automation and Fuse Products

In US Production Operations - Lateral Automation and Fuse Products, we are responsible for maintaining S&C's longstanding reputation for quality products while constantly striving for the elimination of waste through continuous improvement and lean six-sigma manufacturing best practices. S&C's Production Operations bring a competitive advantage mixing state of the art technology, proven manufacturing processes, and a word-class team. As the Vice President, Lateral Automation and Fuse Products, the successful candidate will be responsible for the Chicago and West Palm Beach operations of our Lateral Automation and Fuse Products value streams, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer. While the majority of time will be spent in our Chicago facility, some travel will be required (estimated 20%). They will work closely with internal support functions and engineering to ensure the value stream meets targeted KPI metrics. As the overall leader of these product lines, it is incumbent to have an end-to-end view of the entire value chain.

The Vice President, Lateral Automation and Fuse Products develops and executes annual strategic plans that connect to the five-year plans shared with the Board of Directors. The current strategic focus includes but is not limited to these areas:

  • Strict focus and unwavering support of team member safety driving our culture to See Something, Say Something, and Do Something
  • Data driven problem solving to reduce quality defects to ensure we Make it Right the First Time
  • Drive adherence to standards where they exist and rapid development where they do not. Inspire a culture that works to a sequence and take time to deliver the expected results to our customers
  • Relentlessly pursue continuous improvement initiatives that drive out waste in our processes while reducing costs
  • Coach, mentor, and build a highly effective leadership team.
  • Foster an environment of trust with the more than 200 team members in the Lateral Automation and Fuse Products value stream where all team members are fully engaged in their work and accountable for their actions
  • Partner with the commercial team to improve forecasting process to manage staffing and capacity levels which achieve better on time delivery result at competitive lead times
  • Share best practices to other S&C value streams
  • Develop and execute strategy to achieve aggressive growth targets in 5-year plan

The Vice President, Lateral Automation and Fuse Products is a critical leadership role for S&C. S&C leaders are held accountable for demonstrating the following essential leadership behaviors.

  • Collaborates cross-functionally to create shared ownership as part of an integrated leadership team, ensuring ongoing alignment with the Global Operations Leadership team, owning each other's successes and holding self and peers accountable for delivering.
  • Maintains a culture of customer-centered innovation bringing a sense of urgency to customer needs without sacrificing quality; balances speed and quality. Manages product line capacity, balancing lead time and labor utilization. Develops sales and operations planning tools. Report on production related topics to various audiences including but not limited to the executive leadership team.
  • Drives flawless execution of operational excellence; sets high standards and the tone for high-quality products and services. Champions LPS to drive down costs and improve responsiveness. Fosters a culture of continuous improvement and learning.

Role Requirements:

  • 8 to 10 years' experience in leading a manufacturing operation or complex value stream in both high mix, low volume and low volume, high mix preferred
  • High level lean manufacturing skillset (Six Sigma green or black belt certification preferred)
  • Demonstrated track record of building and leading high-performing teams
  • Proven expertise developing communication strategies that drive value for the company
  • Superb written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Able to craft and promote a coherent strategic vision for advancing lateral Automation and Fuse Products.
  • Deep experience with Assembly methods, techniques, equipment, and best practices
  • A persuasive influencer who can build consensus and momentum
  • Ability to juggle heavy volume of diverse projects, including both strategic and tactical assignments
  • An energetic team player and driven self-starter, with a positive mindset and excellent work ethic
  • Ability to operate with flexibility in a fast-paced environment to meet tight deadlines with resilience and intellectual flexibility
  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred
