Brown Brothers Harriman is currently recruiting a Client Service Team Leader to join our Alternative Investments Group. In this role you will direct the client servicing team resources to achieve overall client satisfaction and serves as a point of escalation for complex issues. The individual focuses on the oversight of the fund accounting, administration and custody disciplines and the applicable product offering for assigned client relationships. S/he manages day to day aspects of client relationships and performs oversight of core product functions as required to support high client satisfaction. S/he will be responsible for managing client service supervisors and will deputize for the Client Service Manager, in their absence.

Some of your key responsibilities include:

Client Service

  • Interpret, review and revise guidelines and policies to enhance team effectiveness.

  • Provide filtering and escalation for client requests; Serve as an escalation point for client service issues and deliverables.

  • Work closely with Client Service Managers to stay abreast of client goals and identify opportunities to expand client relationships.

  • Establish appropriate contacts within client organizations and internal departments.

  • Build overall credibility and foster trust with clients.

  • Lead and assist in implementing the coordination of new business and product implementations and conversions.

Industry Knowledge

  • Maintain deep subject matter expertise in one of the core functions of service delivery - i.e., fund accounting or custody - and an in-depth working knowledge of the other and in-depth working knowledge of all other relevant service offerings (e.g., transfer agency, domiciliation and corporate secretarial, expense management etc.).

1) Fund accounting

  • Knowledge of and practical experience with general ledger systems including partnership accounting.

  • Knowledge of alternative funds (e.g., real estate, private equity, debt funds) structures.

  • Knowledge is required of consolidations, group structures and consolidation systems.

  • Relevant IFRS and local GAAP knowledge.

  • Experienced in preparation of consolidated IFRS financial statements.

  • Knowledge of alternative fund specific investor reporting standards (e.g., INREV, ILPA).

2) Custody

  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory framework under which depositary / custody duties are performed - i.e., local regulations and AIFMd.

  • Knowledge of asset supervision requirements, for both assets held in custody and assets held away, and the application to investment types held by alternative funds.

  • Knowledge of the broader depositary requirements for alternative funds (e.g., oversight duties).

  • Remain knowledgeable of changing industry initiatives and the regulatory environment and educate clients through frequent communications and periodic presentations.

Risk and Control

  • Manage controls efficiently to alleviate any areas of potential risk to the Firm and Clients.

  • Act as the primary point of escalation for Systems, Operations, and Risk/Control for any client related issues and proactively manage the resolution process with frequent updates and satisfaction measures.

  • Review and discuss issues requiring escalation with Sr. Management.

  • Oversight of core Fund Services and Custody service delivery provided by internal departments and third party providers.

Leadership and People

  • Complete and oversee the completion of the BBH annual performance review process.

  • Manage performance issues and disciplinary process for employees falling below set expectations.

  • Participate in the interview and selection process for job applicants.

  • Provide ongoing feedback and coaching to staff to improve individual and team performance.

  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of direct reports.

  • Promote a cohesive team atmosphere through exhibiting strong leadership, effective. communication, professionalism, diversity and development of individual career paths.

Strategy

  • Realize team efficiencies through increased automation and organize workflows.

  • Establish service standards for assigned client groups ensuring standards are shared with and understood by team members and all internal support groups (Operations, etc.).

  • Oversee and ensure training and cross training of employees on relevant job functions to develop breadth and depth of knowledge.

  • Participate in inter/intra-departmental and location team meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

  • 5+ years of industry experience.

  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.

  • Aptitude for numbers, accuracy, and organization.

  • Ability to work accurately and quickly under pressure.

  • Creative problem-solving skills including the ability to identify, recommend and implement solutions.

  • Supervisory experience.

  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and systems.

  • Language skills commensurate with office location and client relationships supported.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment that requires collaboration with multiple teams.
