Position Highlights:

  • Position: Application Analyst II - Epic
  • Location: NCH Corporate- 3040 Salt Creek Lane, Arlington Heights IL 60005
  • Full Time/Part Time: Full Time
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am - 430pm
  • Required Travel: some local travel may be involved with advance notice

What You Will Do

Collaborate with Epic representatives, NCH's business community and end users to ensure the system meets the organization's business needs;

- Performing in-depth analysis of workflows, data collection, report details, and other technical tasks associated with Epic software.

- Works closely with Epic representatives and other NCH Epic teams to fully understand integration, project-level decisions and standards.

- Monitors internal and external system processes daily for error correction and preventative maintenance.

- Creates reports to detect and diagnose application system problems.

- Reviews reports from the system for errors and preventative maintenance.

- Monitors system processes and files for errors, potential problems, and optimum functionality, including system and instrument interfaces.

Apply knowledge obtained in Epic training, to guide and complete application building and testing;

- Understands application specifications and end users' preference while making build decisions.

- Analyzes business operations as they relate to build decisions.

- Prioritizes and implements requested changes to the system within change management structure and procedures.

- Analyzes new functionality in releases to determine how it should be used, collaborating with end user community to support workflow and business processes.

Reviewing and testing each new release;

- Collects information regarding potential system enhancement needs.

- Prepares details of specifications as needed.

- Analyzes data conversion needs.

- Ensures that data coming across an interface into an Epic application meets the business need.

- Develops and documents internal procedures to use in conjunction with Epic applications.

Sets standards for naming and numbering conventions and security classifications using the Epic tools provided.

- Maintains rules for how each new version is released and establishes change control processes and procedures for the system.
- Maintains data integrity for all supported systems.

Continuously evaluates system(s) to ensure maximum use and efficiencies.

- Recommends system solutions that can aid in process improvement.

- Designs and conducts periodic data audits with users.

- Analyzes and recommends changes to realize the benefits derived from the system (s), and coordinates change management.

Supports other affected applications as appropriate.

- This includes communication and coordination with other vendors and/or IT staff related to 3rd party applications which may interact/interface with Epic.

What you will need

1.Must complete all assigned Epic training sessions and complete Epic certification within 6 weeks of training completion.

Failure to certify successfully will disqualify candidate from the Epic team.

2. The ability to lead meetings, prioritize, resolve conflicts, maintain issues lists, and follow a project plan.

3.Strong communication and follow-up skills; solid understanding of escalation processes.

4. The ability to probe for information about the underlying needs of the organization and user community, to optimize build of system and ultimately end user support.

5. The interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with users, vendors, external agencies, and NCH staff, providing positive customer.

6.The ability to handle difficult clients and situations in a professional and courteous manner.

7.The computer skills necessary to support PC and network based applications, and basic network concepts.

8.Strong problem solving skills; ability to deal with problems involving abstract variables in non-standard situations.

9.The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.

10. The organizational skills necessary to multi-process in day to day activity and to concentrate and focus attention on the details of the task at hand.

11. The ability to read, write and comprehend detailed instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

12. The ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, other associates and management of Northwest Community Healthcare.

13. The ability to work a varied schedule, on-call hours, and be prepared to work long hours during crisis situations.

Desired Qualifications

  • The level of knowledge usually obtained through the completion of a Bachelor's degree in a computer related field, Healthcare related field or the equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of two years relevant experience in a healthcare environment. Healthcare IT experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge/experience in one or more of the following preferred: clinical workflows and processes, patient access and registration, scheduling, revenue cycle, health information management.
  • Experience in software deployment and/or support, relevant supported applications preferred.
  • Experience in continual improvement and best practices by identifying and diagnosing improvement opportunities preferred
  • Epic certification in designated application.

Internal Candidates Only - Must achieve certification within 6 months of hire to continue employment.
