Job Description

The Brand Manager, Recipe Cheese, will be accountable for developing the overall brand strategies, plans, and programs and guiding a cross-functional team through delivery for several iconic brands, including Velveeta and Cheez Whiz. This position owns identification of powerful consumer insights to formulate multi-year strategy and generate growth. This includes broad exposure to all functional activities on the brand, including Consumer Insights, Graphics, New Products, Sales, Forecasting, Operations, and Finance, resulting in strengthened marketing fundamentals and a broad approach to driving business growth.

Key Components of the Role

  • Develop portfolio strategy & evolution of products to best meet consumer/retailer needs

  • Leverage syndicated data sources to understand own and competitor performance, bringing forth insights and recommendations

  • IBP ownership for assigned brands, including monthly Demand Review

  • Partner with Rev Man/Finance to assess Price Promo Architecture plans

  • Maintain relationships with external partners

  • Determine financial viability, operational feasibility, and strategic fit of brand activities.

  • Own development of 5-year strategic plan

  • Drive new product development including concept, pack, product & go-to-market plans

  • Lead cross-functional commercialization team to deliver product and packaging changes, including quality improvements, cost reductions and new item launches

  • Own the P&L for respective brands and categories and accountability for delivering profit, volume, and market share objectives

  • Manage annual marketing budget and lead annual budget planning for assigned brands

  • Mentor and develop talent through dotted line manager role

Qualifications

  • Strategy, Marketing, or General Management emphasis preferred

  • Advanced experience in marketing, product management, or brand management preferred

  • Prior experience leading a P&L preferred, strong commercial competence

  • Ability to influence management, lead cross functional teams, handle simultaneous projects, and collaborate effectively with others

  • Excellent leadership skills, operates independently and motivated by success

  • Consumer obsessed with the ability to identify market trends and key insights

  • Agile mindset to drive forth decision making and implementation in needed timings

  • Comfortable challenging the status quo and driving decisions via strong, data led stories

  • Outstanding verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills

  • Excellent organization and project management skills
