Job Description

Plans, coordinates, communicates and evaluates systems and processes that support the effective management of operations of Data Analytics and Reporting (DAR). Responsible for the initiation, planning, execution, control, and closure activities of complex and multi-phase projects across multiple teams. This position interacts closely with stakeholders affected by the project, including executive and operational sponsors, front line staff, other hospital departments, and vendors. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for keeping projects on track and possessing the ability to foresee the entire project as a whole at all times. This role participates in organizational development and problem solving as it relates to DAR, Information Management, Center for Excellence, and the Project Management Office. Using a wide-ranging knowledge of analytics and knowledge-development strategies, recommends and supports solutions to analytic challenges, marshalling resources across the hospital to develop and implement sustainable solutions.

Job Duties:

  • Provides oversight and coordination for major projects related to analytics, reporting, data governance, and data development including the following project management activities:
  • Develops and manages the plans for analytic and reporting projects to mitigate risks and achieve outcomes, incorporating the input of project requestors (physicians, hospital leaders, other stakeholders) and DAR staff.
  • Conducts a review to estimate the resource needs of the project; escalates requests for resources to Administrator and appropriate leaders.
  • Manages project milestones, schedules, budgets and risk mitigation plans to achieve quality outcomes.
  • Leads the quality control review for deliverables during project phases of analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation to ensure conformance with industry standards, best practices, and accreditation requirements.
  • Determines resource requirements and develops budgets. Manages project scope to stay within budget plan.
  • Assists with budget monitoring and scheduling to ensure meeting project specifications and goals.
  • Provides consultation to leaders across the hospital on ways to meet their analytic needs efficiently.
  • Works effectively with multiple levels of the organizational staff from front line to senior leaders and executives. Interfaces regularly with Senior Directors, Vice Presidents, and Executives.
  • Facilitates and manages multi-disciplinary teams; assists operational owners to set goals and priorities for projects.
  • Coordinates and manages defined projects as requested by the Director of Portfolio Management and Data Governance, Data Analytics and Reporting.
  • Mentors DAR's Project Managers and Project Coordinators.
  • Coordinates the development and documentation of project management procedures and resources for sustainment of project outcomes.
  • Effective issue resolution and conflict management skills throughout the process to ensure team continues to move forward.
  • Effective communication skills to keep both the project team and the department leadership informed of project progress, highlighting any issues/barriers with possible solution plans, and reinforcing a team-focused culture for project management.
  • Builds and maintains a strong partnership and cohesive support with the entire hospital community.
  • Other job functions as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and actively engage in data acquisition, clean, management, and processing

  • Conduct statistical analyses and modeling of healthcare data, generating outputs and reports.

  • Validate statistical research information and prepare specific documentation for publication or presentation

  • Prepare and review data for validity and accuracy, recommending additional tests and modifications if necessary

  • Develop, organize, document, maintain and archive statistical analysis programs, data sets and results

  • Offer analytics and reporting support to interdisciplinary teams within the department, overseeing design choices for analyses, comparisons, and interpretation

  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned

K.S.A.'s:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, healthcare administration, nursing, social sciences, or related analytics field. Master's preferred.
  • Master degree in Biostatistics, Statistics or Data Science preferred
  • PMI or Agile & Scrum certification preferred.
  • Epic Cogito Project Manager and/or Epic application certification preferred.
  • Minimum of five years in progressively more responsible administrative positions, including fiscal management.
  • At least 3 years of experience in healthcare operations or research setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex technical interdepartmental projects.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills. Able to organize and manage a project from scoping to implementation through to sustainability.
  • Competent in interpersonal/interdisciplinary communication, group process, negotiation, change management, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills. Ability to present to groups at all levels.
  • Effective listening skills to understand various perspectives and ability to synthesize findings to achieve results.
  • Excellent written and verbal delivery skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and business analysis skills, including ability to understand and articulate the needs of the customer and assist them in making the necessary decisions to accomplish their objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability in earning credibility with leaders across the healthcare organization, including clinicians.
  • Excellent analytical and process/systems thinking skills; excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in planning, program development, decision making and outcome evaluation.
  • Experience in an Academic Medical Center is preferred.
  • Experience working with EHR data, claims data, survey data and biomedical data
  • Hands-on experience conducting data clean, management and analysis

  • Knowledge of R software, SQL databases, or SAS programming is required
