This position is based out of Feeding America's Chicago office location. At Feeding America, we believe in offering a flexible work environment. Employees can be in the office an average of 2 days a week (when not travelling for work) and work from home on other days. Employees also have access to a 30-day "work anywhere" program during the course of each calendar year that can be combined with PTO and/or holidays.
The Opportunity
The Salesforce Technical Lead will provide day-to-day technical oversight for all development, operational, and initiative activities within the Marketing Systems landscape (including all Salesforce instances). This position will coordinate Salesforce technical development and be heavily involved in maintaining Salesforce application instances and all Marketing Systems solutions. The Manager, Salesforce Technical Lead will serve in three primary functions: 1 - Act as people manager for the Salesforce Developer and admin team, 2 - Provide technical guidance to the entire marketing Systems team, along with vendor support engineers, and 3 - Contribute to technical architecture strategy, along with implementation and maintenance of Salesforce tool(s) at Feeding America.

The salary range listed below represents the starting to mid-point salaries for positions and comparable roles at this level at our organization and candidates should expect to be offered a salary near the starting point of the range that is listed on the job posting. We make exceptions for highly experienced (multiple years of at-level experience) new hires in accordance with our pay practices. Once hired, employees have the opportunity to progress through salary ranges via regular merit increases and step promotions.
Salary Range: $109,000 to $114,000 Based on Experience
Responsibilities:
Team Management
1. Manage team tasks and responsibilities, including prioritizing and assigning technical work.
2. Coach, mentor, and provide day-to-day direction for team Salesforce developers and admins.
3. Oversee both operational and project-based activities, ensuring timely execution of projects and tasks.
4. Listen to team feedback and escalate risks / issues when appropriate.
5. Train and mentor team members to ensure effective customer service and exceptional service delivery.
6. Work with partnering teams, decision makers, and internal & external stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals.
7. Create an environment of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and excellence.
Salesforce Development and Technical Leadership:
8. Participate in all aspects of Salesforce releases, including feature review and impact analysis, planning, designing, building, testing, deploying, supporting, and documenting.
9. Lead Salesforce development team in developing solutions through collaboration and discussion with the Marketing Systems IT team and relevant business partners.
10. In conjunction with the technical team, internal staff, and external partners, design, develop and maintain business-specific functions within Feeding America's Salesforce Orgs, in alignment with long-term organizational needs. Where required, develop Salesforce platform modules, dashboards, interfaces, and database functions, including Apex coding.
11. Assist Salesforce administrators with the configuration and support of Salesforce Orgs, as well as related Salesforce applications.
12. Troubleshoot issues, provide recommendations, and oversee solution implementation in the areas of data integrity standards, data quality and overall Salesforce system usage.
13. Collaborate with teammates tasked with system testing and validation processes, including UAT and Quality Assurance, in Salesforce and integrated systems.
Software Engineering
14. Lead collaboration with end-users, business partners, programmers, analysts, and designers in the development and initiation of new software programs and applications.
15. Identify operational areas for improvement and implement best practices for software development, including Saleforce-specific best practices.
16. Partner with and mentor programmers, analysts, software engineers, and project and program managers to implement effective project methodology based on the size and scope of the effort.
17. Interact with directors, managers, clients, vendors, and agencies to field queries and questions, and respond in a timely manner to promptly resolve problems, emergencies or general inquiries.
Customer Management
18. Liaise with business partners, providing technical team guidance on development activities based on requirements from the business.
19. Act as primary point of contact for IT Marketing Systems team for technical issues, questions, design, and guidance required for Feeding America Salesforce systems.
20. Articulate business requirements from end users & business partners into technical design; Discuss design options with customers, with a focus on balancing user needs with system parameters or limitations.
