Duties and Responsibilities
Loyola University Chicago School of Law invites applications for up to three (3) full-time non-tenure-track faculty specializing in legal writing. These positions begin around July 1, 2024, and are long-term appointments. The ability and interest to teach in the hybrid format in our part-time/weekend J.D. division will also be considered as a part of the review process. These new faculty positions will be part of Loyola's transition from an all-adjunct model to one taught by full-time Legal Writing faculty.

Applicants must present a JD with excellent academic credentials and a demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring students. Loyola University Chicago School of Law is dedicated as a faculty to contribute to a deeper understanding of law, legal institutions, and systems of oppression through a commitment to transformation, intersectionality, and anti-subordination in our teaching, research, scholarship, and public service. The responsibilities of these positions include:
1) Teaching two sections of first-year legal writing per semester;
2) Service to the School of Law, University, and community;
3) Participation in School of Law faculty governance and committee work;
4) Active involvement in student mentoring and advising; and,
5) Significant engagement with academic institutions and professional organizations, including frequent participation in local, regional, and national meetings and symposia.


Qualifications
1) Juris Doctor degree (J.D.) from an accredited institution;
2) Demonstrated excellence in legal writing; and
3) Strong commitment to social justice.
Additional valued qualifications include:
1) Legal practice experience;
2) Prior teaching experience at a law school; and
3) Demonstrated commitment to legal writing pedagogy
