Overview:

This position requires technical and functional expertise related to procurement and supply chain management, anticipate issues and recommend solutions, strategize with clients and senior management. Manage the development of project deliverables, key performance indicators (to monitor cost reduction initiatives, supply chain assessments/diagnostics, contract optimization, technology utilization, and supply chain strategy). The Director is also responsible for recommending and developing process improvement initiatives that supports the Unified Supply Chain effort. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT:

Develops capital and operating budgets for department(s) in accordance with the overall Mercy Community plan and Unified Supply Chain initiatives. Monitors and maintains expenses within established budgets across service lines. Researches and evaluates cost reduction opportunities through data analysis.

CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGEMENT:

Responsible for the delivery of safe, quality and cost efficient service by competent staff members in assigned department(s).Promotes communication and collaboration, while working in partnership with leaders, vendors, customers and staff. Responsibility for problem/conflict resolution. Accountable for communicating regularly in detail to the department co-workers they are responsible for; conducts regularly scheduled meetings, providing updates as well as soliciting feedback.

PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT:

Assesses and utilizes lean methodology to drive performance improvement and cost efficiency while developing best practices. Perform data analysis to assist in decision making.

GOALS/KPIs:

Defines, implements and reports status of action plans for local & Mercy-wide goals as well as KPI's.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: Development of policies and procedures and provides final approval for responsible department(s). Makes sure policies are in alignment to the Unified Supply Chain direction and local Mercy Community policies that may overlap. They also must comply with federal, state and regulatory agency requirements. Communicates and ensures co-workers follow all policies and procedures.

LEADERSHIP MANAGEMENT:

Main Supply Chain leader at Facility and responsible for direct relationship with Facility senior leadership. Has main oversight for direction of supply chain activity within assigned facilities. Chairs/participates on local/Mercy-wide committees and task forces to include ROi initiatives. Main facility contact with Supply & Service vendors. Maintains a high degree of flexibility when managing day-to-day operations or unexpected events. Demonstrates sound judgement and good decision making skills, seeking expertise of others, as needed. Oversees processes driving the hiring, training, discipline and evaluation of co-workers in all reporting departments. Fosters a culture of coworker growth and talent development. Coaches and mentors co-workers. Cultivates and nurtures relationships with co-workers to promote an engaged workforce through communication, transparency and personal accountability.


Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5 years of health care supply chain mgmt. experience or other industry equivalent.
  • Required Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent Hospital Supply Chain years experience is required.
  • Certifications: APICS, CPIM, CSCP, IAHCSMM, OR CRST
