The Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute (BCVI) Clinical Trials Unit at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a full-time non-tenure-eligible Team Scientist at the rank of Assistant Professor. The Team Scientist will support research at Northwestern Memorial Hospital (NMH) which is one of the country's leading academic medical centers located in downtown Chicago. NMH's BCVI is a nationally recognized program that delivers highly specialized cardiovascular care. Responsibilities include engaging in multi-faceted research, collaborating with broad and interdisciplinary teams, and guiding the strategic direction of BCVI's research portfolio.

Qualified candidates will have completed a PhD in statistics or in a closely related field (e.g., computer science, bioinformatics, machine learning, mathematics, or other areas where statistical concepts and methods play an important role). Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience in applied statistics in a healthcare setting.

Job duties will include:

Research

  • Plan, guide, and administer a broad portfolio of internally and externally funded projects that include 1) clinical trials, 2) implementation and dissemination research, and 3) strategic operational and database- related initiatives.
  • Collaborate with researchers within BCVI to secure external research funding through grants and contracts to support research initiatives.
  • Lead data coordinating center (DCC) activities; and provide statistical leadership, guidance, and support for registry and database activities.
  • Publish scholarly articles in peer-reviewed journals and present research findings at national and international conferences.\
  • Develop and articulate goals and objectives to achieve BCVI's overall goals of improving patient care and conducting high impact research.
  • Engage with individuals across Northwestern University, Northwestern Medicine, and at external institutions to identify research gaps and opportunities, develop collaborative research and operational initiatives, and grow the diversity and capacity of BCVI's research workforce.

Teaching and Mentorship

  • Mentor residents, fellows, and colleagues in implementation science research projects.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of implementation science and public health coursework.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments and institutions to foster interdisciplinary research and partnerships.
  • Engage with the wider academic and professional community to promote implementation science and its impact.
  • Provide oversight of statisticians and database activities in the BCVI Clinical Trials Unit and BCVI Center for Artificial Intelligence in Cardiovascular Medicine.
