Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following; other duties may be assigned)

The Senior Accountant role will be a key team member working with multiple accounting teams. This role will be responsible for accounting and reporting for construction and development activities, including construction and development accruals and reporting as well as tracking of eligible costs for appropriate recognition of grant proceeds. In addition, this role will assist in certain reporting requirements related to grants received and tracking of eligible costs.

Responsibilities include applying principles of accounting to analyze financial information, prepare regulatory reports for analysis and review, prepare entries for general ledger accounts and documenting business transactions for assigned areas. The role requires analysis of financial information relating to assets, liabilities and capital balances and will include preparing balance sheets and profit & loss statements and perform monthly and quarterly analysis. Required to work collaboratively within department and with cross functional teams as part of day to day activities.

Job Scope & Span of Control

  • Solid, working accounting knowledge of US GAAP in construction and development areas.
  • Working knowledge of construction accounting on long lived projects with government reporting requirements
  • Experienced professional with full understanding of job, company and industry practices.
  • Performs in fully functioning capacity, with independent contributor capacity.
  • Creates accounting records and journal entries including general accounting and costing entries.
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries for general ledger accounts and document business transactions.
  • Performs specified tasks related to G/L and monthly close, reporting and reconciliations.
  • Perform internal controls testing of key controls within the company.
  • Applies advanced skills contributing to knowledge areas within function.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting.
  • Requires 2-6 years' experience in related field, C.P.A. preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and use of analytical tools
  • Working knowledge of Peoplesoft and Reporting BI tools preferred.
  • Industry experienced preferred.
