Job Title: Director of Field Human Resources

Job Summary: Potbelly is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Field Human Resources to lead our HR initiatives across our national footprint of company-owned and operated locations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies that align with the overall business objectives. As the Director of Field HR, you will play a crucial role in fostering the good vibes work culture we strive for, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and supporting the organization's talent management and employee relations efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic HR Leadership:

  • Serve as a key business partner to the COO and the ops leadership team, ensuring people strategies are in place to enable success
  • Build a strategic people plan for Potbelly's field organization that guides initiatives and efforts in the near, medium, and long term

Talent Management:

  • Develop and execute talent management strategies to nurture and retain high-performing associates and leaders across field operations
  • Support succession planning and development across the operations function to develop a strong bench of leaders for critical roles

Employee Relations:

  • Serve as an employee advocate in ensuring a "good vibes" work culture consistent with our values
  • Design, implement, and administer HR policies and procedures across the field organization

Performance Management:

  • Design and implement performance management programs to drive employee development
  • Provide guidance to managers on performance evaluations, feedback, and improvement plans

Compliance and Legal:

  • Partner with ops leadership and legal counsel to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws
  • Keep abreast of changes in labor regulations and ensure HR policies and procedures reflect accordingly

Training and Development:

  • Assess, identify, and support approach to associate and leadership training & development needs
  • Support career development initiatives to enhance employee skills and capabilities

HR Metrics and Reporting:

  • Partner with HR and business leadership team to establish HR metrics that measure the effectiveness of people initiatives and performance
  • Provide regular reports including insights and recommendations to executive leadership on people trends, challenges, and opportunities

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus
  • Proven experience as an HR leader, with a focus on field operations
  • In-depth knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and industry trends
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to travel to various locations as needed
