Position: Senior Analyst, Financial Planning and Analysis
Location: Ballantyne, NC (Hybrid)
Position Overview: The Senior Analyst, FP&A is responsible for analyzing Columbus McKinnon's business results, in addition to broader domestic and global economic data. Results of the analysis are compiled and presented to management and Executive Leadership Team to support business decisions. The role assists in the preparation and consolidation of the annual strategic plan, the annual budget, monthly forecasts and ad-hoc projects. The Senior Analyst, FP&A is a Power User of the company's Business Intelligence systems enabling the standardization of global reporting for analytics and data consumption. The Senior Analyst will work collaboratively and be a business partner with Global Operations, Research & Development, and leaders at all levels of the organization to monitor performance and develop/ implement financial processes, which encourage the execution of the Company's strategic initiatives. This is a progressive financial analytical role, not bound by traditional accounting and FP&A functions limited to only financial consolidation and analysis. Working in a fast-paced environment, the Senior Analyst must be highly skilled in Microsoft Excel and have a systems-orientation to be agile enough to develop and achieve the analytical requirements of key stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in developing, compiling, and analyzing the annual financial budget, monthly forecasts, and annual strategic business plan.
  • Support department leaders in project management, ad-hoc reporting and analysis of indicators to measure performance/ execution of Plant, Supply Chain and New Product Development objectives
  • Analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators (KPI's) including all areas of revenue, gross margin, SG&A expense and capital expenditures
  • Monitor other KPI's highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variance
  • Collaborate with global employees to investigate variances and apply problem solving skills in the global organization
  • Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives
  • Analyze complex financial and business information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes
  • Support the Executive Leadership Team and their teams with in-depth analysis
  • Develop models, which allow the Company to evaluate Returns on Investment, Internal Rates of Returns and Net Present Values of business investments
  • Compile and consolidate peer, market and industry data to monitor company performance in the context of macroeconomic developments
  • Prepare presentation materials for Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors regarding financial and strategic activities for the Company
  • Utilize, develop and standardize Business Intelligence reporting that can be leveraged by the global organization
  • Collaborate with the Power BI Team to support executive decisions and empower stakeholders to understand their business, customers and vendors in new ways
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities:
  • Collaborate and proactively work across the global organization with a skillset to distill large datasets into management level models and presentations
  • Ability to interpret company financial statements to understand to improve key financial metrics
  • Experience in presenting to an executive leadership team or C-suite
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team on projects
  • Ability to analyze large amounts of data throughout the global organization
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and financial modeling (Power Query preferred)
  • Strong Microsoft PowerPoint and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities independently
  • Familiarity and experience sourcing data from multiple ERP systems and Business Intelligence Tools
  • Basic understanding of US GAAP and other accounting regulations
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, highly productive environment where projects and direction can change quickly while creating thorough and detailed designs and documentation
  • Works well in a team and ability to articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to think creatively, highly driven and self-motivated
  • Strong technical skills, data driven and detailed oriented. Demonstrated ability to "roll-up sleeves" and work with team members at all levels of the organization in a hands-on management capacity
  • Ability to work cooperatively with hands-on management or with minimal supervision
  • Strong Business Systems Experience (SAP, Oracle HFM/FCCS, Power BI)
  • Other duties, as assigned
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics or related field;
  • MBA or other Graduate certifications preferred
  • 4+ years experience executing financial/ accounting/ business analytics in a fast-paced work environment
  • Public company experience preferred
  • 3+ years experience in building and maintaining complex, excel-based financial models
  • 10%+ Travel in Columbus McKinnon's global footprint
