Senior Benefits Specialist

The Senior Benefits Specialist is a member of the Human Resources (HR) team with shared accountability for the success of the Department. In coordination with the System Director, Benefits, the Benefits Specialist assists in planning and coordinating retirement benefits activities (including claims administration, regulatory compliance, vendor management, data analysis and reporting) and providing benefit service to all Endeavor Health employees.

The Senior Benefits Specialist regularly interacts with employees, Managers, HR Business Partners using a consultative and service oriented approach, works independently using appropriate judgment and discretion to address employee questions and concerns as well as perform day to day responsibilities.

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Senior Benefits Specialist

  • Location:Hybrid (remote and in either Evanston, Skokie, or Warrenville)

  • Full Time/Part Time: Full-time

  • Hours:Monday-Friday, during normal business hours

  • Travel: travel to other Endeavor Health locations may be required for in person meetings

What you will do:

  • Respond to escalated employee inquiries in coordination with the HR Service Center on retirement benefit design, processes and procedures.

  • Instruct other Human Resource staff on retirement benefit design, processes and procedures.

  • Serves on project teams to assist with needs such as system testing, communication review, scheduling, training and point of contact for HR Service Center and vendors.

  • Audits bi-weekly file feeds with vendor and resolves any errors prior to payroll running.

  • Works with vendor and payroll to audit payroll report and works with finance to fund bi-weekly retirement contributions to vendor.

  • Complete benefit surveys, analyze other plans, surveys, and other sources of information.

  • Assist in evaluating and comparing existing employee benefits market data.

  • Assists with the development of materials for benefits presentations for New Employee Orientation, retirement benefit content for multiple websites and miscellaneous communications.

  • Prepare and distribute written and verbal information to inform employees of retirement benefits, policies and procedures.

  • Investigates claims, answers questions on eligibility, enrollment, vesting, etc. related to retirement plans.

  • Administers multiple retirement plans.

  • Contributes to documenting processes and procedures for proper routine administration.

  • Effectively implements benefit plan changes and may interact with attorneys in problem resolution.

What you will need:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field required or equivalent work experience.

  • Experience: 5+ years of previous retirements benefits experience

  • Skills:

    • Complex Problem Solving - Identifying complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

    • Critical and Strategic Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

    • Time Management - Managing one's own time and the time of others.

    • Communication - Ability to impart or exchange information by speaking, writing, or using some other medium, means of sending and/or receiving with consideration of the audience. Talking to others to convey information effectively.
