Job Description

Responsibilities include qualifying new sales opportunities, building a pipeline of prospective customers, and closing lease transactions in our small to medium size customer segment. We are looking for a self-motivated sales professional with a passion for customer service and a desire to work in a collaborative team environment. This position will be based at our Chicago HQ location and reports into the Commercial organization.

Job Duties

  • Establish and enhance relationships with new and existing small to medium size customers
  • Propose and negotiate lease terms and conditions
  • Work closely with the Customer Service team to ensure customers' needs and expectations are met
  • Effectively use the Salesforce.com CRM tool to manage call reports, opportunities, customer and market information
  • Develop and execute a sales business plan that will achieve corporate revenue goals.

Critical Job Knowledge and Core Competencies/Skills:

  • Knowledge of the North American rail industry, railcar types and their commodity applications
  • Understanding of operating lease terms and conditions
  • Ability to negotiate contract terms
  • Excellent sales ability with a focus on long term relationship building.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Some travel to visit customers and industry conferences required

Experience

  • 5 plus years of comparable or relevant experience in the rail industry
  • Strong knowledge of the Rail sector and ability to discuss market dynamics
  • Experience with Salesforce.com or comparable CRM preferred
