Position Summary
The Rehab. Robotics Lab invites applications for Graduate Research Assistant. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research on wearable robot co-adaptation.

Join our dynamic, interdisciplinary team of undergraduate and graduate students, post-doc, and faculty, and engage in impactful research that pushes the boundaries in Rehab. Robotics Lab ().

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and/or evaluate a method to facilitate user-robot co-adaptation in a wearable robot using data-driven machine learning prediction
  • Mentor/supervise/assist research activities within the lab for graduate/undergraduate students regarding control, mechatronics design, data analysis, human subject experiment, experimental protocol design, result interpretation/presentations, and/or manuscript preparations.
  • Work closely with collaborators
  • Maintain/Assist project documentation including IRB and prepare knowledge transfer materials.
  • Publish scientific results in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Participate in writing/submitting research proposals if funding opportunities come.


  • Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications
    B.S. or M.S. degree in mechatronics, electrical computer engineering, biomechanics, or a related academic field.

    Preferred Qualifications
    The ideal candidate holds a B.S. or M.S. degree in mechatronics, electrical computer engineering, biomechanics, or a related academic field, with specific experience in one or more of the following areas:
    - Programming in Python, Matlab, Simulink Real-time or similar
    - Mechatronics system development and real-time control
    - Experience in Arduino, Raspberry pi or similar
    - Wearable Sensors (IMUs, EMG, ECG, Foot pressure sensor, etc.)
    - 3D Motion Analysis (Vicon motion capture or similar system)
    - Biomechanical Modeling (inverse and/or forward dynamics, Visual3D)
    - Statistical analysis (SPSS, Matlab, or similar)
    - Controlled human subject experiments
    - Data analysis
    - Lab management
    - Dissemination and assist in grant proposal

    The ideal starting date is May 1st, but it can be flexible.
