Responsibilities

The Corporate Paralegal will be responsible for supporting matters pertaining to Related Midwest. This position will have the responsibilities of the day-to-day legal administrative and documentation duties for our Related Corporate Real Estate business. This position will be based onsite in our Chicago office and will work closely with the following Related divisions: Construction and Design, Construction Cost Management, Development, Leasing, Marketing, and Residential Sales and Rentals. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Form and maintain legal entities to ensure compliance with corporate governance standards
  • Manage and track various litigation matters, ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation, deadlines, and case-related information.
  • Administer legal file management, processing both new and existing files for effective documentation and organization.
  • Conduct thorough title and survey reviews for real estate transactions, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and identifying any potential issues or discrepancies.
  • Oversee time record administration and invoicing procedures to support accurate financial tracking.
  • Collaborate with in-house and third-party attorneys, facilitating seamless communication and coordination.
  • Draft and create various legal documents, including agreements, memoranda, corporate resolutions, and closing certificates.
  • Review due diligence documents to provide comprehensive support for legal proceedings.
  • Order and review lien and judgment searches to assess potential risks and liabilities.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant corporate and real estate legal experience
  • Experience working in a corporate environment
  • Superior interpersonal skills:
    • Ease in working with people up and down the organization hierarchy
    • Naturally adaptive to different audiences
    • Diplomatically assertive
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong sense of integrity and ethics.
  • Excellent written and verbal and communication skills.
  • Undergraduate degree required.
  • A Registered Paralegal (RP) certification is preferred.
