Brown Brothers Harriman is currently recruiting a Model Risk Analyst to help lead our Enterprise Model Risk Management team.You will be one of the core members of the Enterprise Model Risk Management Program providing a second line of defense for all bank models. In this role, you will get the opportunity to work with a variety of teams across the bank and gain exposure to senior leadership.

The role requires a detail-oriented and analytical programmer possibly with a background in mathematics. The responsibilities include decomposing, evaluating, and interpreting the stability and functionality of various logical and financial models used across the Firm. The position requires a deep understanding of Computer programming, quantitative modeling, and risk management principles.

Enterprise Model Risk Management is a dynamic, technical, multi-disciplinary team within ERM, performing analysis on firm-wide models, machine learning algorithms, and computations. Model risk addresses applied concepts in econometrics, artificial intelligence, financial forecasting, balance sheet management, capital liquidity, and financial regulatory requirements management.

On a cyclical basis, model risk undertakes validation projects to monitor the functioning of critical models across all lines of business. The Senior Analyst role will be responsible for designing and completing verification activities that assess technical functionality of algorithms, programming code, and databases used in financial risk, anti-money laundering risks, and sanctions compliance screening.

Some of your key responsibilities include:

  • Analyze and decompose model functionality to assess output against requirements.
  • Manage data quality and integrity analysis for model data inputs through applied data analytics.
  • Prescribe model design improvements relative to industry standards and best-practices.
  • Maintain and follow model risk management policies and procedures.
  • Participate in other team initiatives such as model risk training.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of experience in computer science (or similar), or Master's degree plus 3 years of experience.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, SQL for data modeling, simulation, or forecasting.
  • Proficiency in data analysis techniques and metrics; working knowledge of relational database technologies using SQL.
  • Working knowledge with Python, R, SQL, or low/no-code tools for data modeling and/or large-scale data analysis projects.
  • Familiarity with banking and financial industry analytics and monitoring tools such as Alteryx, Actimize, or Fircosoft.
  • Strong technical writing and briefing skills.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in computer science, mathematics, economics, information technology, finance, or equivalent fields.
  • Basic knowledge of AML and Sanctions and other compliance regulations.
  • Experience with machine learning for financial business cases.

This role is based in our Boston location and is a hybrid role, with three days per week in office.
