Job Scope

The Senior Manager, Supply Chain Planning and Purchasing leads the supply planning tasks necessary to ensure an uninterrupted flow of Instrument, Reagent, and Bioassay products to customers. This role creates and implements production plans that are both material and resource feasible and serves as the primary point of contact regarding product availability. Manages the business relationship between Luminex and its suppliers to purchase goods and services for the company at the lowest total cost. This role is also responsible for leading and supporting key supply chain projects and process improvement initiatives, and serves as a key participant in setting the strategic direction of the Planning Organization.

What you will be doing:

  • Utilizes demand forecasts and sales trends to create and maintain supply plans, capacity plans, and master production schedules for multiple product lines.
  • Interfaces with manufacturing, materials and logistics, technical support and R&D to ensure availability of necessary raw materials
  • Ensures that raw material shortages are identified and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Manages the resolution process of MRP exceptions, and resolves MRP discrepancies. Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for MRP and Oracle related issues
  • Ensures that open order reports and other indicators are monitored and updated to ensure a timely delivery of finished goods to support customer demand
  • Identifies, negotiates, and resolves conflicts with respect to material and capacity availability and order-promising
  • Notifies Order Management, Manufacturing, and other internal stakeholders whenever an existing shipment commitment is in jeopardy, and recommends alternatives on how the requested demand could be satisfied
  • Manages the maintenance of inventory levels within established goals and guidelines and adjusts stocking levels accordingly
  • Monitors and implements actions to minimize raw material and finished goods scrap
  • Actively participates as a reviewer/approver in the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process. Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the ECO process
  • Reviews cycle count and physical inventory records, provides approvals and assists in resolution of any discrepancies
  • Ensures all planning and buying parameters such as lead times, lot sizes, scales, safety stocks, and other item attributes for all planned items are properly maintained.
  • Ensures that all processes are conducted according to approved procedures
  • Demonstrates ownership of product lines through consistent and effective reporting of product availability, potential risks, opportunities, and overall health of Instrument, Reagent, and Bioassay products supported
  • Identifies and implements process improvements with significant ROI and business impact, either individually or in a team leadership role
  • Supports New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts and projects in addition to other daily responsibilities
  • Interacts with all levels of management and can accurately convey necessary information in written and verbal communications
  • Demonstrates exceptional leadership
  • Works closely with manufacturing, quality, engineering and sourcing to resolve issues for current sourced solutions
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of suppliers and their capabilities including key personnel, product details, production processes, order handling, internal systems, and shipping capabilities
  • Identifies, evaluates and manages supply risk exposure and devises risk mitigations measures
  • Investigates and drives corrective actions to receiving and accounting problems related to purchase orders
  • Manages the tactical business relationship between the supplier and Luminex, and ensures that communications are clear and appropriate

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Science, or equivalent required
  • 7+ Years Experience working in a supply chain role, including planning, purchasing, and/or logistics required
  • 3+ Years Experience in leadership role with direct reports required
  • 2+ Years Experience in a Medical Device, Pharma, or other Healthcare field required
  • 2+ Years Experience using an ERP system in a manufacturing environment required
  • Experience with oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) required
  • Experience in a GMP and/or FDA regulated environment required
  • Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)-APICS required
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt required

  • 25% Travel Domestically
