LSSI is hiring a full-timeSubstance Use Specialist. To provide engage, provide individualized addiction counseling, and connection to higher levels of addiction treatment to individuals experiencing symptoms of early episode psychosis who are also struggling with addiction, utilizing a variety of modalities, including trauma-informed frameworks.

EssentialFunctions:

  • Provide individual addiction treatment and symptom management using evidence-based practices.
  • Participate in weekly consultation calls designed to provide clinical support for treating clients with first-episode psychosis.
  • Provide individual treatment coordination services for 20-30 assigned clients.
  • Provide culturally-competent, trauma-informed, strengths-based, and measurement-based care for FEP clients.
  • Help the team complete an initial comprehensive assessment (e.g., onset, course, and effect of illness, past treatment and responses, and risk behaviors), mental status and diagnosis; physical health; substance use history; education and employment; social development and functioning; activities of daily living (e.g., self-care, living situation, nutrition, money management); and family structure and relationships.

Position Qualifications:

  • Minimum Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or another therapeutic field.
  • CADC
  • 2 years prior experience providing therapy and counseling to individuals with co-occurring disorders.
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to establish trusting, hopeful relationships with clients and their families.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing evidence-based practices to fidelity.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with and respect differences of opinion, beliefs, culture, appearances and ways of life.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent communication, organization, presentation and pc/computer skills (including proficiency with Microsoft Office - Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) along with other related software.
  • Current Illinois Driver's License and excellent driving record and active minimum liability insurance.
