Position Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in related field.

NATA (National Athletic Trainers Association) certification.
State of Illinois Athletic Training License.

CPR certification

Good communication skills.

Computer skills.

Ability to travel to outreach clinics.
Ability to work under stressful conditions and difficult situations.
Ability to work varying shifts by day of the week to meet needs of the center.
This position can recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of patient age groups i.e. understand child growth and development, normal pattern of adolescent behavior and looks for normal signs of aging.
If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND JOB ACTIVITIES:

  • Clinical Support/Health Outcomes: Provide support in delivery of quality clinical care
  • Handles patient flow, including the preparing of rooms and patients and other duties assigned as identified by Advocate Medical Group physician office standards protocol.
  • During the visit measures and records accurately: blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, weight, records reason for visit as appropriate
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform the following functions regarding athletic injuries: prevention, assessment, treatment, and reconditioning as set forth by the NATA Board of certification
  • Provides patient education and discharge instructions including the demonstration of a prescribed home exercise program.
  • Performs various tests/procedures independently as prescribed by the physician in accordance with certification and scope of care.
  • Demonstrates proper taping, strapping, bracing, and fitting of athletic equipment.
  • Management of concussion patients utilizing ImPACT testing. Under the provisions of the Illinois Athletic Trainer's Practice Act, they shall maintain an ethical and professional medical environment consistent with the standards of care established by the National Athletic Trainers Association and the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and Advocate Medical Group.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
