Role Description
The Project Engineer/Estimator will be responsible upholding McHugh Concrete’s core values. Effective use of estimating and project management software. Perform accurate and timely estimates. Work with project teams to help exceed client expectations and achieve all project goals. Promote a positive image of McHugh Concrete to clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors. Always communicate in a clear, effective manner. Must be a team player and work efficiently with others.

Responsibilities:

Estimating
1. Set up bids and request and check supplier quotes.
2. Perform quantity takeoff via creation of 3D BIM models for estimates using Tekla.
3. Organize and enter quantities into estimate, review for accuracy and completeness of each bid, and input quoted pricing.
4. Develop a thorough knowledge of bid documents to ensure the proper scope of work is completed / draft bid proposals.
5. Submit bid RFI’s as needed.
6. Participate in weekly meetings with Division Project Executive to review bids.
7. Work with our Business Development Manager to input project information for upcoming bids into Salesforce and ensure all data is accurate.

Projects

  • Project document control. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing and organizing project documents (Drawings, RFI’s, Submittals) throughout the life of the project. This person will be a key team member in ensuring the correct information is available for the project teams to use.
  • When a project is won, this candidate will be responsible for the set up all the project drawings and related documents into our project management tracking software.
  • Submit and track RFIs and submittals.
  • Update drawing sets when changes are issued to ensure current drawings sets are up to date.
  • Cost code/review supplier invoices for the project for PM approval.
  • Make weekly site visits to review progress onsite and interact with team members.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with Project Executive to review status of RFI’s, Submittals, etc.

Qualifications

  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office, project management software and a variety of computer software products (Microsoft Spreadsheets, Word docs, Outlook, MS Project, BlueBeam, iSQFT, Procore, Viewpoint Team, Tekla, SketchUp, Salesforce, etc.).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • College degree in Construction Management, Construction Technology, Engineering or an equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience
  • Problem-solver with great communication and interpersonal skills (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.)
  • Prior experience in the concrete construction industry is a plus
