Are you ready to make your mark? If you are interested in becoming a Mechanical Assembler at Woodward, we have an exciting opportunity for you. Mechanical Assembler reports to the manufacturing supervisor and is responsible for assembling, installing, aligning, adjusting and fitting sub-assemblies and parts or auxiliary equipment using appropriate tools and equipment, in an industrial setting. The position works underlimited supervision, moderate decision-making and problem solving, in an industrial setting.This position also provides some guidance to other members.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Assemble and/or perform preset calibration/final testing. Performs moderately complex assembly and test. Products may include but are not limited to small, medium and large products, subassemblies and/or complete units.
  • Assemble, install, align, adjust and fit subassemblies and parts or auxiliary equipment using appropriate tools and equipment as per work instructions.
  • Assist engineering to improve processes and solve complex problems.
  • Clean parts and maintain tooling and equipment per proper work instructions.
  • Perform troubleshooting and diagnosis of moderately complex assembly and/or test problems.
  • Follow work instructions associated with assembly skills to become certified for work being performed.
  • Work with close tolerances and fits to meet engineering and operating requirements.
  • Pick and/or stock parts from point of use in stock rooms and places completed parts. (In Duarte, Stockhandlers perform these functions.)
  • Complete all required paperwork in an accurate and efficient manner, including Quality Assurance and Test Record.
  • Complete Warranty Data Reports on Warranty Returns.
  • Identify quality/process improvements.
Qualifications - External

  • Ability to use a variety of basic hand tools
  • Basic written/verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Willingness to demonstrate eagerness, enthusiasm, and optimism for work activities
  • Ability to define, diagnose, and resolve problems
  • Detail orientation and ability to follow work instructions
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least 3 years of related work experience and applicable certifications
