Job Description

TITLE

Manager, Community Relations

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director for Marketing with a dotted line to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Strategy and Chief of Staff, this position is responsible for Texas Woman's community relations, outreach, and initiatives. Work is performed under general supervision and performance evaluation is based upon completion of assignments and results obtained. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies & Procedures.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: Director, Marketing...Assistant Vice Chancellor for Strategy & Chief of Staff

Supervises: No supervisory responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but not limited to the following:

  1. Develops, implements, and manages all functions of community relations and outreach programs including partnership relations to grow audiences and the TWU brand.
  2. Builds relationships and collaborates on values-aligned initiatives between key internal and external stakeholders.
  3. Collaborates with Office of the Chancellor, University Advancement, Student Life, University Athletics, and other organizational leadership on a recurring basis to discuss, decide, strategize, and plan for community initiatives.
  4. Develops content and curates social media channels for the TWU Chancellor, the university's "living logo," and collaborates with the university's manager of social media to strengthen strategic social media messaging and engagement.
  5. Actively participates, executes, and reports on creative and impactful outreach programs targeting the community and businesses in the North Texas region, with a particular focus on the Denton area.
  6. Creates and generates strategy and plans as well as development of content for owned and earned media opportunities related to community initiatives.
  7. Manages KPI development, measurement and reporting for community programs including data collection, analysis, tracking of participants, and generation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for organizational stakeholders. This includes developing and implementing an annual community survey.
  8. Engages in proposal development, strategic planning, project management, and relationship management.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Performs other duties as requested.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited College/University required.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum 5 years of experience in public relations, marketing, community relations or community event management required. Experience working in the non-profit section preferred.

REQUIREMENT

Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position.

  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills and ability to meet deadlines, accomplish work in order of priority, professionally maintain composure and effectiveness under pressure and changing conditions.
  • Strong knowledge of Denton and North Texas community-based organizations.
  • Dependable team player who works collaboratively and cooperatively with staff in a team-oriented environment.
  • Exceptional project & time management skills
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
  • Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment, including related university software and email.
