Job Description

Grace is seeking an Operations Supervisor to join our Chicago 71st Plant Team. This role reports to the Operations Manager and ensures a safe working environment for all employees, plan the production workflow as directed, supervise the production employees (team of 15-20) and ensure the goals of the business are met. This is a rotating night shift following the schedule below:

2 Week schedule:

Week 1

5:45pm-6:15am Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Week 2

5:45pm-6:15am Wednesday, Thursday

Responsibilities

  • Conducts shift meetings with the operators to uphold a safe environment, review results of previous shift, set goals and expectations for next shift
  • Conducts regular area tours to ensure employee engagement, address performance and resolve issues, ensure cleanliness and 5S of areas, preform safety walks / inspections
  • Wraps-up the shift with the operators and leads shift-handoff meeting with the next supervisor
  • Develops shift reports and communicates performance / issues in area daily meetings
  • Manages breaks, daily work assignments and operator performance management
  • Coordinates production staffing with operations planning
  • Inputs maintenance work notifications; identifies and facilitate required work permits
  • Ensures equipment is ready for maintenance work and verifies completed maintenance work orders
  • Manages team member disciplinary issues, assesses capabilities, and evaluates for necessary training
Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 7 + years experience in a chemical or refining environment
  • Experience managing teams and direct reports
  • Hands on mechanical experience
  • Hands on troubleshooting equipment experience
  • Ability to work outdoors in all temperatures
