Job Description

The Director of Global Workforce Planning will play an important role in devising and implementing Morningstar's global workforce and location strategy. This role in an individual contributor role and reports to the Head of Strategy, and Analytics within Morningstar's People & Culture (HR) function. The role will work closely with business leaders to understand and forecast headcount needs that support short- and long-term business plans for a global, matrixed organization. This role will leverage market, operational and human capital data to model workforce options and make data driven recommendations. This role will partner with finance, and facilities to identify optimal work locations considering local labor trends, talent pools and economic and political landscapes. This role will have experience with change management and support employees and managers when implementing location change. This role will create and share metrics as to the success of implemented strategies.

The ideal candidate will have experience designing and implementing effective workforce strategies in a large organization. This person will be pro-active in working with business leaders at all levels of the organization and manage partnerships with external resources. This person is able to collaborate with and lead, via influence not management, cross-functional teams including finance, facilities, real estate, human resources and other internal stakeholders. This person has real estate knowledge, insights into human behavior and can drive projects from the ground up.

What You'll Do:

  • Work with senior leaders to forecast headcount and create workforce plans that align with the company's business objectives and growth projections.
  • Partner with global facilities and finance teams to assess and recommend location strategy options.
  • Pro-actively monitor global labor and industry trends and data and incorporate into workforce plan alternatives.
  • Lead efforts for successful adoption of location strategies, selections and moving work between locations.
  • Use knowledge of best practices to measure and communicate effectiveness of workforce plans - creating metrics and dashboards to share with key stakeholders.
  • Utilize people analytics to assess how office locations foster employee behavior including in-office patterns.

What We're Looking for:

  • Minimum ten years business experience with a focus on workforce planning in a matrixed, global environment.
  • Demonstrated success in overseeing successful implementation of workforce plans.
  • Experience modelling long-term location and labor plans.
  • Strong project management, change managementand analytical skills.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with and influence people at all levels and locations.
  • Background in organizational development or real estate a plus.
