ChampionX has an immediate need for an Instrumentation and Electrical Technician in our Sugar Land, TX plant. This position will primarily be responsible for providing maintenance support to the Sugar Land, TX plant while maintaining safe operations of repairs, trouble shooting, and installing various equipment and components, i.e., piping, forklifts etc. This position will require occasional weekend call-out (including nights) or holiday work on a rotating basis. What You Will Do:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and install plant pneumatic, electrical instrumentation and mechanical equipment.
  • Recognize and avoid safety hazards in the work environment
  • Calibrate, install, and maintain all types of electronic instrumentation including pH, conductivity, level, flow, temperature, and pressure equipment.
  • Run conduit, pull cable, run pneumatic tubing, along with periodically pulling control values for repair.
  • You may be assigned responsibility for calibration and associated record keeping of instrumentation or other special projects.
  • You may serve on teams developed to increase and maximize efficiently in production.
  • Comply with all applicable site Safety, Health, Environmental, and Security policies and procedures
  • Install and troubleshoot electrical motor controls
  • Troubleshoot Allen Bradley RS Logix 500 and Rockwell RS-5000
  • Utilize eMaint system - close out work orders, record time, parts usage, support/reinforce cost control.
  • Write equipment repair & preventative maintenance (PM) procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Perform Root Cause Failure Analysis.
  • Adhere to all Structured Safety Process and ISO Quality System Requirements.
  • Assist with all aspects of repair and construction projects.

Position Details:

  • Candidate must reside within 50 Miles of Sugar Land, TX
  • Work week and shift: Monday - Friday, 7am - 3:30pm,

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum high school graduate or GED Minimum 3 years of experience in an industrial maintenance environment with Automation, Instrumentation, electrical and mechanical systems
  • Ability to operate a forklift, manlift and scissor lift
  • Must have the ability to don a respirator and wear fall protection
  • All candidates must have the ability to speak, read and write English

Physical Demands:

  • Must have the ability to Lift/Carry up to 50 pounds chest high, climb stairs or ladders, and agile enough to squat and bend over
  • This role is deemed safety sensitive and may be subject to employer or customer drug testing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of NEC
  • Knowledge of DCS/PLC
  • NFPA70
  • Experience with Fluke calibration equipment and multi-meters
  • Experience with HART communication devices
  • Formal vocational training in plant maintenance activities with emphasis on industrial applications or equivalent job experience in electricity, power distribution, industrial electrical
  • Experience in a TPM and Lean Environment
  • Awareness of chemical safety and the measures to take in the event of skin contact or spill
  • Trained in arc Flash Safety
  • Must currently hold a valid Class C Driver's License, issued by the state in which the candidate resides
  • Clean driving record going back 3 years
