VTG is seeking a Ground Systems Engineer to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Advisory (SETA) services at Springfield, VA. He/she will work multiple ground system projects and tasks-from broad, strategic issues (e.g. policies, concept of operations, etc.) to tactical concerns (e.g., near-term schedules, testing, etc.).
Responsibilities:
* Support Chief Engineer and government staff to execute systems engineering and integration (SE&I) activities across the site.
* Work with SE&I teams to follow site system engineering process; oversee site processes used to document and manage site baseline to accommodate mission growth.
* Interface with System Program Offices (SPO) to integrate various GEOINT space missions into a ground-based architecture, ensure the delivering organization understands site integration needs and processes.
* Assist in developing standards, processes and procedures; review and evaluate technical documentation (e.g. CONOPS, requirements; issues and risks, etc.).
* Represent government's interests at various forums; provide analysis and recommendations to multiple government customers.
* Coordinate with key project managers on a routine basis to evaluate contractor performance.
Required:
* Must be a US Citizen.
* Active TS/SCI with polygraph.
* Bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM)* and nine (9) years or more experience; or master's in STEM field and seven (7) years or more experience. *contract requirement
* Technical knowledge of ground communications and mission data processing systems, familiar with space vehicle mission planning and command and control systems.
* Full system engineering life cycle experience.
* Ability to work independently to support multiple government customers and large, complex projects to address organization's needs throughout system development lifecycle.
* Self-starter, proactively addresses customer requirements without supervision; expert at defining solutions for broad, abstract topics.
* Polished communicator (written/verbal), impeccable interpersonal skills and personal judgment.
* Master at collaboration and coordination with multiple stakeholders -- consensus builder.
Desired:
* Real-time operations experience as a GEOINT spacecraft operator, spacecraft engineer, or ground systems operator; familiar with space operations and policies.
* Familiar with Digital Engineering/Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Agile development, cloud technologies, government technical standards.
* Project management experience with delivered systems.
